Read the passage carefully and answer the questions that follow:
You know of course that our earth is very, very old-millions and millions of years old. And for a long long time there were no men or women living in it, before the men came there were only animals, and before the animals there was a time when no kind of life existed on the earth. It is difficult to imagine this world of ours which is so full today of all kinds of animals and men, to be without them. But scientists and those who have studied and thought a great a deal about these matters tell us that there was a time when the earth was too hot for any living being to live on it.
ACTIVITY: 1
Answer the following questions in complete sentences:
(i) How old is the earth?
Ans.: The earth is millions and millions years old.
(ii) Describe the earth before man existed.
Ans.: Before the men came there were only animals, and before the animals there was a time when no kind of life existed on the earth. It is difficult to imagine this world of ours which is so full today of all kinds of animals and men, to be without them.
(iii) Why was there no life on earth?
Ans.: There was no life on earth because the earth was too hot for any living being to live on it.

A best friend is one of the most valuable people in our life. My best friend's name is Rahul. He is my best friend because he always helps me when I am in any kind of trouble. He also helps in my study whenever I am stuck in any kind of problem. I also help him whenever he needs. He likes to eat chocolate very much but he did not like to play cricket which I like most. I am very fortunate to have a friend like him.
